We can groom extremely difficult dogs and cats. Sometimes they do just magically behave for us, but there may be struggling, whining or crying - we don't mind, we will get the job done. It may not be pretty but we know even bad dogs need to be groomed and we are confident we can do them. We are not afraid and we can groom the worst of the worst. We are used to impossible behavior and we don't mind dealing with it. We have seen it all, trust us! If your pet has been repeatedly kicked out of other salons, we see it as a challenge and we like challenges. We can usually teach your pet to behave better for future grooms so it is less stressful and safer for them as wiggly pets are more likely to be injured by scissors and clippers. We do not mind if you give your pet medication prescribed by the vet to relax him. You can even help comfort them while we groom. A wiggly pet is more likely to be injured at the grooming salon so we do everything we can to keep them calm and still. When they get groomed at home mom or dad is there to help hold them still or even sternly tell them to behave if needed. It will be a safer, less stressful experience for them. Often just being groomed at home instead of taken to the salon reduces anxiety enough to help a pet behave better.
If your pet is very bad when the nails are trimmed and cries or struggles excessively, it won't bother us. We are used to it. We can handle it. If it tries to bite we will muzzle it with a soft nylon muzzle. If you know your dog or cat might try to bite please warn us ahead of time for our safety.

I don't know what to say to that except...Yep, I guess I am weird. :-) I love the challenge. I love working with the dog. I love trying to figure out what it is that bothers the dog. I love finding ways to work with the dog. I love showing the dog that grooming can be a pleasant thing. I love giving the dog a chance. I am proud to say that I rarely have to turn a dog away. Some of my most difficult dogs have turned into wonderful grooms. Some have always stayed biters, but rarely bite me anymore because I respect them and they know that I will not hurt them. |
